Lalo Schrifin Composer - - Paul Horn – Jazz Suite On The Mass Texts

It is unusual to be posting this on Christmas Eve. I left the catholic faith at a young age and joined one that does not celebrate the holidays.

But can appreciate the care that goes into sacred music, No matter what faith. and like Bach who credited the Creator, composers find great inspiration in our spirituality.  As Jesus said "'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”"

and hey, its a young Lalo Schrifin. The linear scan from Discogs is fuzzy but worth reading.

El Muñecón celebrates 25 years of trajectory and musical seduction

El Muñecón celebrates 25 years of trajectory and musical seduction

A translation from La Jornada. Doing a program on his channel and wanted to translate this.

El Muñecón is a character with a fusion of James Bond and Mauricio Garcés.

Considered ambassador of lounge culture, El Muñecón or El Internacional Lounge King, who nurtures his character with a fusion of James Bond and Mauricio Garcés, celebrates 25 years of career and musical seduction, after having emerged as a radio concept, with which he has toured various parts of the world.

"It has been said that I am the Garcés of radio, which I accept with great pleasure", said with satisfaction to La Jornada the announcer, who assured: "I have not interrupted transmissions and I have evolved", although he has changed radio stations and traveled to other countries.

One name that El Muñecón uses is Morris Crown, but his face and age remain anonymous since he started on this journey where "he offers the listener a nice and relaxed proposal focused on a stylish way of life, surrounded by trendy and classic objects; he is a personality that for his musical selection, his style, agility, audacity and intelligence has an aspirational way of life".

Passion for vintage and the 60s

The only certainty that the communicator lets us glimpse is that he is Mexican, with a great passion for vintage and the decade of the 60's of the last century, but with extensive radio experience.

He commented that he has adapted to the new digital formats; he also broadcasts on Rock 101 online, Rock 101 Guadalajara, as well as on radio television in Acapulco, Guerrero; and on other stations in Cuernavaca and Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. He also has the radio station Lounge King Radio, seven days a week, 24 hours a day, on iHeart Mexico.

El Muñecón's mission is stated on its website: "To musically seduce the ears and invite to live the Bachelor Pad radio experience and lounge/vintage culture, spies, dance, burlesque, laughter, consciousness, but accompanied by delicious auditory concepts to stimulate the imagination". Now his proposal is gaining followers among the new generations.

The announcer, who has also resorted to a wrestler's mask to cover up his other personality, which he calls Mr. Xcentric, said: "It was a very good idea. Xcentric said: "I have been held responsible, which is very nice, for launching and reinfusing lounge music since the 90s; remember that at that time there was a kind of revival with Austin Powers, played by Mike Myers, super secret agent, which was a joke but alluded to 007, who was a heartthrob and the film emulated those 60s, like those of Mauricio Garces".

His story began "one morning in the station 100.Nueva Era, commanded by Luis Gerardo Salas; with a vintage radio proposal, not stale, but emulating the glorious years of Garcés, the a go gó, all that time, shortly before the hippies. And in that initiative I included the maestro Juan García Esquivel, now internationally recognized for being the initiator of Space Age".

Now more than two decades later, El Muñecón is convinced that he will not reveal his secret personality. "This is to preserve and emulate the radio culture, which is essential for people's imagination".

He emphasized, "in the program, although the issue of seduction is immersed, which involves being surrounded by girls, I have also kept in line, to show a lot of respect, to be anti-harassment, to be against feminicide and the existing distortion of the vision of women as sexual objects."

"I have taken care of the matter, giving the gentlemen a guide -even- so that they know how to behave, understand what seduction means, that they distinguish between the latter and harassment; but above all, always, inciting female respect", he emphasized.

Regarding women, he recalled that throughout his prolific career, "I have also been accompanied by many girls, with sensational voices, who have contributed culturally, but with a magical touch; nobody knows who they are, nobody knew who they were; we are essentially two; but the voices and the music have captivated listeners for many years".

El Muñecón is aware that his program is not of massive character, since his own followers have told him that "it is of niche and of cult; it has a special circle, where photographers, writers, musicians, filmmakers and people involved in the arts are included".

For the music specialist, lounge is "a variation mainly of jazz that has been known since the late fifties and was characterized by presenting sensual rhythms, devoid of a loaded instrumentation, since then the minimal tendency in music was written".

Nowadays, "lounge is a variation of house, which differs from chillout, mainly in that lounge is mainly imaginative and is composed with harmonic successions of jazz. By extension, the word came to designate a whole culture dedicated to pleasure, comfort and elegance. If today the lounge aesthetic is a fashionable choice, it is due to the record industry of the late 90's".

Among his various plans, he is preparing a short film where he explains who El Muñecón is, but in the voice of the people he has influenced and who have recognized his work. More information on networks and https://elmunecon.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/muneconoficial/.

Pete & Conte Candoli – There Is Nothing Like A Dame

My Carol was watching on old movie from the 30's called "Dames" and "I Only Have Eyes For You" that lovely song was in it. That segment is worth a look. Briefly the couple, in the middle of a bustling city, seem to be all alone.  This has nothing to do with this post. But we took it out of the Library and I mentioned "There Is Nothing Like A Dame" and the fellow behind me said "South Pacific".

The Candoli brothers are on, like, a million recording sessions. But they recorded only 10 together as Leaders. It this any good? Looks good.....Weid thing is on Amazon the vinyl for this is offered at $200, $100 and $50. Discogs you can get a copy cheap around $6...
